Woman robbed of jewellery by bike-borne accused
LUCKNOW, May 2 -- A woman was allegedly robbed of her necklace and mangalsutra by two motorcycle-borne accused while she was on her way to her brother-in-law's wedding procession in Mahanagar area on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place between 9:30pm and 10pm near Chhanni Lal Chauraha, shortly after Purnima Sonkar aka Poonam, a resident of Qaiserbagh, got off her scooter with her husband. In her complaint, the victim stated, "My husband went ahead to join the procession. As I followed him, two motorcycle-borne men snatched my gold jewellery and fled towards Gol Market."
Mahanagar police registered an FIR late on Wednesday night under Section 304 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita based on the victim's statement. Deputy commissioner of police (central) formed a special team to investigate. Mahanagar SHO Akhilesh Kumar Mishra said, "The FIR has been registered and we are reviewing CCTV footage. The accused will be nabbed soon."
Four persons, including two school students, were injured early Thursday morning when the e-rickshaw they were travelling in collided with a car at the Jai Hind intersection under the Qaiserbagh police station limits here.
According to police, the incident occurred around 6.50am. The injured were identified as Mohammad Asif alias Chauna, 40, the e-rickshaw driver; a passenger named Nisha, 38, and two Class 11 students from Emma Thomson School.
"While the injured were admitted to the hospital, the car driver, Vipul Mishra, a resident of Staff quarter Lucknow University second campus in Jankipuram, was taken into custody. Further legal action is being pursued," stated a statement from the Lucknow Police....
