Woman kills husband for neglecting her over his first wife; arrested
Meerut, Sept. 1 -- In Muzaffarnagar district, local police arrested a 30-year-old woman Kavita for allegedly strangling her husband Sanjay Kumar to death in his sleep. The crime, which took place on August 29, was reported to authorities by the victim's father Bhopal Singh, leading to Kavita's arrest on Saturday.
According to station house officer (SHO) Dinesh Chand Bhagel, the accused Kavita confessed to the crime during police interrogation. She admitted to strangling her 40-year-old husband in a fit of rage, citing feelings of neglect as her motive.
Kavita, Sanjay's second wife, told investigators that her husband had been favouring his first wife, who resides in their native village of Tanda Majra, over her.
The couple, married since 2000, had reportedly been grappling with domestic tensions stemming from Sanjay's divided attention between his two wives.
"Sanjay Kumar was killed by his second wife, Kavita," SHO Bhagel confirmed, adding that the police acted swiftly after receiving the complaint from Bhopal Singh, the victim's father, who alerted authorities to the gruesome act.
Sanjay's first wife, whose identity has not been disclosed, continues to reside in Tanda Majra, the same village where the crime occurred.
Authorities have not yet indicated whether she will be questioned as part of the ongoing investigation. The police are continuing to probe the case to ascertain any additional factors that may have contributed to the tragic event....
