Woman killed over land dispute, kin held
MEERUT, May 18 -- A 58-year-old woman was found murdered in a field in Bithri Chainpur area of Bareilly on Friday night, with her family alleging that she was killed by her brother-in-law and his sons over a land dispute, police said on Saturday.
SP (North) Mukesh Chandra Mishra confirmed the recovery of the body and said some of the named relatives had been taken into custody. "The postmortem report will help us proceed further," he said.
The victim, identified as Haripyari, was returning to a poultry farm, where she worked along with her husband. As per her son, Arvind, Haripyari had stepped out briefly around midnight on Friday night to collect some essentials after purchasing tobacco for her husband. "She was on her way back to the farm when my uncle and cousins attacked her. Her body was discovered in a nearby field the next morning," he claimed.
The family told the police that there had been a prolonged dispute between the two households over land ownership. "They would often come and threaten us. Now they have killed my mother. I fear I may be next," Arvind said. HTC...
