Haldwani, Dec. 31 -- A 37-year-old woman was allegedly killed by a leopard in Khansyu area of Nainital district on Tuesday, marking the second fatal wildlife incident in the district within five days, forest officials said. The incident occurred around noon when the woman, along with other villagers, had gone into the forest in the Badon range to collect firewood and fodder. According to officials, the leopard suddenly pounced on her and dragged her deeper into the forest before fleeing after other women raised an alarm. The deceased was identified as Rekha Devi (37), a resident of Chamoli Dhura village in Khansyu, officials said. "On Tuesday afternoon, a woman was killed by a leopard in the forests of Badon range under Nainital forest division. The victim had gone to the forest with other women when the leopard attacked and dragged her away.
