PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 12 -- A woman was killed after being run over by a car in Kareli's GTB Nagar on Tuesday morning. The car, which overturned after the collision, was being driven by a hired driver employed by a doctor at Motilal Nehru Divisional (Colvin) Hospital. Police have arrested the driver and registered an FIR following a complaint lodged by the victim's family. According to reports, a physician at Colvin Hospital and resident of GTB Nagar had sent his driver, Shahbaz, to start his car around 10 am. Moments later, the vehicle suddenly accelerated and hit 50-year-old Vimla Devi, who was walking along the roadside. The car then rammed into a parked vehicle before overturning. Vimla Devi, a resident of Naya Purva, sustained critical injuries and was rushed to SRN Hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. Preliminary investigation suggests that Shahbaz, who was used to driving the doctor's older vehicle, was unfamiliar with the new car's automatic transmission. While starting the vehicle, he reportedly pressed the accelerator by mistake, causing it to lurch forward uncontrollably. Police personnel from Kareli station reached the spot shortly after the incident, arrested Shahbaz, and seized the vehicle. "An FIR has been registered against the driver based on a complaint from the deceased woman's family. The accused has been arrested, and further legal action is underway," said Rajkumar Meena, ACP, Atarsuiya. Vimla Devi had lost her husband, Ramnath, a few years ago and worked as a domestic help to raise her two daughters. She was on her way to work at the time of the accident....
