Woman killed, two others injured as dumper truck hits e-rickshaw
PRAYAGRAJ, Feb. 4 -- A soil-laden dumper truck collided with an e-rickshaw near Bhita village in the Ghoorpur area of Prayagraj district on Tuesday morning, killing an elderly woman and seriously injuring two others.
According to police, the e-rickshaw, en route to Jasra vegetable market, was hit from behind by the speeding truck in front of Bhita village. The deceased has been identified as Phoolkali Nishad (61), wife of the late Kanhai Nishad, and a resident of Kanjasa village under Ghoorpur police station. She was transporting vegetables from her field to sell at the market, police said.
The e-rickshaw had just crossed Bhita Chauraha when the dumper lost control and hit the vehicle. Phoolkali Nishad died on the spot after being trapped in the impact. Two other passengers, Gudiya Sonkar and Asha Sonkar, residents of Birwal village, sustained serious injuries and were admitted to a nearby hospital.
