PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 1 -- The investigation into the rape case filed against sub-inspector Sujeet Kumar Yadav, posted at Kohandaur police station of Pratapgarh, has been handed over to inspector Namrata Singh, who is currently posted at the Pratapgarh superintendent of police (SP) office. Meanwhile, the rape survivor's statement has been recorded in court following her medical examination, shared police officials. A young woman from Jhansi had filed a case against SI Sujeet Kumar Yadav at the women police station in Pratapgarh, accusing him of raping her on the pretext of marriage. Yadav, a native of Bharathpur Bahriyabad in Ghazipur district, had gone missing after reporting to the police lines. In her FIR, the complainant not only named Sujeet Yadav but also accused two male and two female constables from Kohandaur Police Station of being complicit in the case. Initially, the investigation was assigned to women police station in-charge Meenakshi Pandey, but it was later transferred to inspector Namrata Singh posted at the SP office for further probe. Despite efforts, police have yet to trace the accused sub-inspector. Meanwhile, the investigating officer recorded the victim's statement in court after the medical procedure.
