Woman held for husband's murder; alleges harassment
Meerut, June 26 -- A woman was recently arrested after she allegedly killed her husband by strangulation and posed his death to be of a natural cause in Muzaffarnagar on Friday, police said. The arrest was made following a medical examination and police investigation.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Sanjay Kumar Verma, Salman, the husband, lived with his wife and their four-year-old son. After his death on Friday night, the woman claimed that he had suffered a heart attack. However, a postmortem examination revealed that the death was due to strangulation.
The police probe was taken up on the complaint of Salman's brother.
Meanwhile, the accused reportedly told police that her husband mentally and physically abused her by forcing her into illicit relationships with other men. She claimed he would often record videos of the obscene act and share them with others.
During her interrogation, the woman reportedly confessed to lacing his soft drink with sedatives and, later, choking him with her 'dupatta' or scarf....
