Woman found murdered on rooftop in Samastipur dist
SAMASTIPUR, Aug. 23 -- A 25-year-old woman was brutally murdered by slitting her throat on the rooftop of her house in Samastipur district on Friday morning, police said.
Police further said that the incident occurred under Harpur Bhindi panchayat which falls under the jurisdiction of Tajpur police station of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Reema Devi, wife of Uday Kumar Rai, a resident of Harpur Bhindi. According to family members, the crime came to light when her mother-in-law went to check on her early in the morning while preparing the children for school. She found Reema's throat-slit body lying on the terrace.
According to deceased's husband, around 11 pm, he came downstairs and stayed inside the room after that. The family claimed they were unaware of what transpired upstairs during the night.
Tajpur Station House Officer (SHO) Shankar Sharan Das confirmed that one person has been detained for questioning.
"Forensic experts were rushed to the site for gathering evidence and an investigation is underway, "said Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sanjay Kumar Pandey who visited the site after getting information.
Meanwhile, the victim's husband, Uday Kumar Rai, alleged that his cousin Vinod Rai was behind the killing. He claimed that there had been an ongoing dispute over the construction of a boundary wall at the entrance of the house.
"Just a week ago, there was a violent altercation in which my wife was also assaulted. We had submitted a written complaint to the police, but no action was taken. I strongly suspect that he killed my wife," Uday said....
