LUCKNOW, Dec. 11 -- Days after a make-up artist was found dead at her rented accommodation in Vikasnagar Sector-1 here on Sunday, police on Wednesday said they were investigating the matter after the woman's family alleged foul play in her death. According to officials, the woman's live-in partner, who works as a disc jockey (DJ), found her hanging and took her to the trauma centre, where doctors declared her dead on arrival and informed the police. "The body has been sent for post-mortem, and the exact cause of death will be confirmed after we get the report," said station officer at Vikas Nagar police station Alok Kumar Singh. The woman's relatives, who live in Bahraich, said they received a call around 11 pm on Sunday informing them that she had been found hanging and was being taken to a hospital. They said she had spoken to them shortly before the incident and showed no signs of distress. Relatives also stated that they were unaware she had been in a live-in relationship. They said her partner had told them that the two got married in a temple. Police said the partner told investigators he had brought her home from work that night and stepped out briefly to buy vegetables. Upon returning, he allegedly found the door locked from the inside. After breaking it open, he claimed he found her hanging, police said. The woman has a daughter from her previous marriage. After it ended in 2023, she moved to Lucknow and had been working for a salon in Indira Nagar. Her colleagues said her partner stayed with her on most days....
