VARANASI, July 13 -- A 24-year-old woman allegedly consumed a poisonous substance and died outside the women's police station under Kotwali police station limits here on Friday. Police said a case has been registered against a youth who allegedly abetted her to commit suicide. According to police, the deceased, a resident of Bhagwanpur, had earlier lodged a harassment complaint against her neighbour and nephew Roshan Yadav, alleging he had been troubling her for the past two years. Following the complaint, Roshan was called to the women's police station for questioning, where he arrived accompanied by his family members. During the interrogation, an altercation reportedly took place between Roshan and the woman, who was identified as his alleged paternal aunt, inside the police station premises. Moments later, she walked out to the lawn area and allegedly consumed poison. She was immediately taken to the divisional hospital, where she died during treatment around 6:30 pm, police said. Following the incident, the woman's father lodged a complaint against Roshan Yadav, alleging frequent harassment by him had left her disturbed. Deputy commissioner of police (Kashi Zone), Gaurav Banswal, confirmed that a case has been registered against Roshan Yadav under relevant sections of the BNS, and further investigation is underway....
