Woman booked for posing as judge's wife
LUCKNOW, Dec. 3 -- A woman who claimed to be the wife of a senior high court judge to secure VIP protocol at Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) has been booked for cheating, police said on Tuesday.
The accused, identified as Ranjana Rai, had visited the orthopaedics department of the institute on November 26 along with her daughter. According to Vibhuti Khand police, she approached the PRO office in the academic block and introduced herself as the spouse of a senior judge, requesting protocol assistance for her consultation.
Assistant PRO Nimisha Sonkar alerted the protocol desk, after which staffer Avinash Rai initiated verification. When officials contacted the high court's protocol wing, they learned that no such request had been made and the woman had falsely claimed the identity.
The hospital denied protocol services and reported the matter. On November 27, joint registrar (protocol) Shailendra Kumar filed an FIR at Vibhuti Khand police station.
Inspector Amar Singh said the complaint includes charges of cheating and impersonation. "The woman's mobile number was provided by the hospital. Efforts are underway to trace her," he said.
Police said the woman was seen with her daughter during the visit, and CCTV footage is being examined to establish her movements within the institute. Further investigation is on....
