PRAYAGRAJ, June 26 -- A case of blackmailing a woman student of Mutthiganj area and extorting jewellery and cash has come to light. The accused also sent fake photographs of the girl to her would-be in-laws after which the marriage was also broken. On the complaint of the victim, a case has been lodged at Muthiganj police station. As per reports, a broken relationship and fixing of the marriage of the woman to someone else, made her friend, Diptanshu Kesarwani, first demand cash and jewellery, and later, got her marriage stalled by sending allegedly fake photos to her in-laws-to-be. The accused also posted the photos on social media. According to SHO, Muthiganj police station, Sunil Bajpai, a case has been lodged against the accused and police was investigating the whole matter after which suitable action would be initiated. According to the complaint, the woman met the accused, Diptanshu Kesarwani, about nine years ago. They were in a close relationship till a year ago. However, for a year, the victim had stopped talking to Diptanshu. Upset over the same, the accused allegedly started blackmailing her and demanded money. At first, out of fear, the victim gave Rs 50,000 to the accused. This increased the greed of the accused. Meanwhile, the girl got engaged to someone else in April this year. After coming to know about the engagement, Diptanshu demanded Rs 2 lakh from the woman threatening that if the money was not given, he would tell her in-laws-to-be about their relationship. Scared, the woman gave her gold chain worth Rs 1.25 lakh to the accused. However, the accused sent a photograph of himself with the woman to her in-laws-to-be.
