Prayagraj, Nov. 8 -- A woman from the Raniganj area of Pratapgarh has filed a complaint with the local police and the director general of police, Uttar Pradesh, alleging rape and blackmail by a married man. According to the complaint, the man lured her into a relationship by promising marriage. He later made obscene video clips of her without consent and allegedly threatened to make them viral if she refused to pay him Rs.15 lakh. The woman, a resident of Khemaipur village, claimed that the man sexually assaulted her several times. When she objected to the video recording, he continued to harass and threaten her. In her written complaint, she said the accused kept forcing her to meet him and threatened to release the videos if she refused. She then submitted her complaint to the station house officer (SHO) of Raniganj police station and also sent a copy to the DGP office in Lucknow. SHO Prabhat Kumar confirmed that the police had received the complaint. "An investigation is underway, and a case will be registered based on the findings," he said. The body of a young man was found in a paddy field in Pratapgarh district, a day after he went missing. Police suspect murder and have begun an investigation. The victim, identified as Shubham Gautam, was a resident of Narayanpur Kala village under Fatanpur police station. He worked as a labourer and had left home around 9 pm on Thursday but did not return. His body was found about 400 metres from his house on Friday morning.
