Woman accuses man of rape when she was a minor, say police
Barmer, Sept. 15 -- A rape survivor in Barmer district accused gave birth to a newborn on Saturday late evening. Following the incident, police reached the hospital and recorded her statement, in which she accused a man of sexually assaulting her when she was a minor. Based on her statement, police have lodged a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and other relevant sections. Women police station house officer Mukan Dhan confirmed the development.
The investigation has been handed over to Additional Superintendent of Police Nitesh Arya. According to police, the survivor was brought to the hospital by her family on Saturday evening after she complained of severe abdominal pain. Doctors admitted her for treatment and informed the police. During her admission, she delivered a baby.
SHO Dhan added that the survivor has just turned 18 and disclosed that the incident occurred about nine months ago, when she was still a minor....
