LUCKNOW, Sept. 29 -- A woman and her son were rescued after getting stuck in a lift for 45 minutes in their apartment in the state capital. The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, was reported from Tower M3 in Ahana Enclave of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) on Bijnor Road. The lift stopped midway between the ground and the first floor. "I was inside the lift with my child and remained trapped for around 45 minutes. The intercom did not work and there was no alarm response. My mobile network also failed. The lift was opened manually only after labourers on the first floor heard my cries for help," Shipra Saxena said on Sunday. Residents alleged that the lifts in their society have no annual maintenance contract and have been left without proper servicing, leading to frequent breakdowns. When contacted, LMC chief engineer (electrical and mechanical) Manoj Prabhat said: "I received the information today (Sunday). Currently, maintenance of lifts is being done by a contractor."...
