Meerut, Dec. 20 -- A case of alleged electoral fraud has surfaced in Assembly Constituency 27, Moradabad Rural, where a woman voter reportedly filled Special Intensive Revision (SIR) enumeration forms under two different names using the same Aadhaar number. Acting on a complaint by an election supervisor, the police have registered a case against the woman and her son under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act. According to the police, the incident came to light during the digitisation of enumeration forms. Supervisor Rajeev Prakash, in his written complaint, stated that two separate SIR forms were submitted- one in the name of Shamim Jahan and the other in the name of Amina Bano. Both forms carried the same Aadhaar number, 915354936478, and the same photograph, but had different voter ID numbers. The forms were filled and signed for mapping purposes by the woman's son, Mohammad Raeesh. Further investigation revealed that in one form, the woman mentioned her husband's name, while in the other she cited her mother's name. In the enumeration form submitted as Amina Bano, the voter ID of her husband, Aftab, was attached. In the form submitted as Shamim Jahan, the voter ID of her mother, Munni, was used. Election records show two voter entries at the same booth in Moradabad, Amina Bano (Voter ID LVYW 2317063, 65 Sarai Gulzari Mal) and Shamim Jahan (Voter ID WZK 1448505, 50 Sarai Gulzari Mal). Police registered an FIR at Sadar Kotwali against Shamim Jahan and her son Mohammad Raeesh under Section 31 of the Representation of the People Act.
