LUCKNOW, Nov. 20 -- A woman, 55 and her son, 38, collapsed near a senior minister's residence in Lucknow's VVIP zone on Wednesday after consuming poison, with a note recovered from the spot alleging harassment and fraud over a land deal in Mathura district, police said. Police said the incident took place around 11.30 am, after which both fell on the roadside. "A case has been registered, and police have begun verifying the allegations mentioned in the recovered application. Further action will follow based on investigation findings," said SHO Gautam Palli Ratnesh Singh. According to the police statement, the duo claimed that their plot in Mathura has allegedly been encroached upon, and the dispute pushed them to take the extreme step. Officials added that the Mathura district police is being contacted to verify the claim. Passersby alerted the police, who shifted the two to Civil Hospital. The son was admitted for treatment, while the woman, whose condition deteriorated, was referred to KGMU for advanced medical care. Police recovered a bag containing two pouches of a poisonous substance and a mobile phone from the spot. Officials said a handwritten note found in the son's pocket alleged that a group of land dealers had taken over Rs 40 lakh from the family for a house and a plot but neither completed the registry nor handed over possession. The note further alleged that whenever the family approached officials or moved to court, the accused threatened them using political links, warning that no action would be taken. They wrote that their lifetime savings had been exhausted and that they were repeatedly humiliated and assaulted. The document stated that they chose the location near Vikramaditya Marg to draw attention to their situation and named five individuals. Police added that the two appeared to be walking toward the VVIP stretch but consumed the poison before reaching the barricades. Officers also clarified that the incident is not linked to any minister, contrary to claims made in the note....
