LUCKNOW, June 2 -- In a tragic incident, a 60-year-old woman and her 4-year-old granddaughter were killed after getting mowed down by a speeding DCM truck near Durgaganj petrol pump on Hardoi Road in Kakori police station limits on Sunday afternoon. According to Lucknow police, the deceased Shyam Dulari and her granddaughter Sonia, both residents of Kanar village in Malihabad, were travelling on a motorcycle with Daulat Ram, Shyam Dulari's son and Sonia's father when around 2pm, he stopped near the roadside to drop them off before heading to a nearby petrol pump to refuel his bike. Just moments after he left them, an unidentified DCM truck, reportedly speeding and driven recklessly, crushed the duo as they sat by the roadside. "Shyam Dulari was killed on the spot, while Sonia was rushed to the Trauma Centre in critical condition. Despite doctors' best efforts, the child later succumbed to her injuries," said DCP West Vishwajeet Srivastava. "The Kakori police have launched an investigation. CCTV footage from nearby shops is being reviewed, and eyewitnesses are being questioned to identify the vehicle and its driver. Legal proceedings are underway," read the official statement....
