BAHRAICH, Sept. 29 -- A day after chief minister Yogi Adityanath's instruction to either capture or eliminate the wolves responsible for harming people in some villages of Bahraich district, the forest department launched an operation to capture the predator on Sunday morning. However, despite being shot at and injured, the wolf managed to escape. Assistant conservator of forests (ACF) Rashid Jameel said forest patrol teams, while combing the Majhara Taukli area, received information that a wolf was sighted there. Immediately, they rushed to the spot. "When the wolf attempted to flee the trap, our shooters opened fire and injured it. We are confident that the wolf will be tracked down soon," the forest official said. Fear continues to grip villagers as wolf attacks have claimed the lives of three children, left another missing and injured at least 16 people in recent weeks. Following CM Yogi's instructions, forest teams are conducting round-the-clock searches. On Saturday, the chief minister conducted an aerial survey in Bahraich before meeting villagers affected by human-wildlife conflicts in Manjhara, Taukli, and Kaiserganj gram sabhas. -shariq rais siddiqui...
