With new facilities, Shivpur mini stadium in Kashi to get facelift
VARANASI, Feb. 18 -- The mini stadium in Shivpur, Varanasi, is getting a facelift in line with modern and international standards, to provide better facilities to Purvanchal athletes.
The stadium will be equipped with state-of-the-art football and hockey grounds, volleyball courts, and cricket practice nets.
Renovation work, which costs approximately Rs.6.15 crore, is in full swing and slated to be completed by July.
Purna Bora, vice-chairperson, Varanasi Development Authority, said that after renovation, the stadium will feature state-of-the-art football and hockey grounds, volleyball courts, and cricket practice nets. An indoor hall for badminton and table tennis is also being developed, allowing them various sports activities throughout the year.
The stadium is not limited to athletes alone; it is being made useful for all sections of society. A dedicated play area for children, a separate area for senior citizens, and a 3-meter-wide walking track that will surround the entire stadium will also be developed.
To promote health, an open gym and yoga pavilion are also being constructed, allowing 43 people to practice yoga at a time. "The 3.47-acre state-of-the-art Shivpur Mini Stadium will help nurture young sports talent," said Bora....
