Dehradun, May 25 -- The Congress will present development agenda against Bharatiya Janata Party's divisive agenda in the 2027 assembly polls in Uttarakhand, former chief minister Harish Rawat said on Saturday. "We are working at the organisational level to bring in new people and reorganise our existing workers. We believe our path to 2027 lies in sharp contrast to the BJP's nine years of exploitation. During our time in government, we focused on disaster management at a time when everything was in disarray.....tourism had come to a halt, per capita income was among the lowest, and the state's GDP was declining. We stabilised Uttarakhand and worked on the idea of Uttarakhandiyat.....the very spirit on which the state was founded. Sadly, the current government has abandoned that agenda," Rawat told media in Pithoragarh. "As a result, the state today is fighting for its very identity. Migration continues unchecked, and unemployment is on the rise. We aim to raise these critical issues and unite people.....prepare an alternative agenda on jal, jungle, jameen (water, forests, land) or give it any name. Against the BJP's agenda of loot, lies, and divisiveness, we will present an agenda of development and public welfare. That will be the foundation on which we contest the 2027 elections," he further said. In response to Rawat's remarks, state BJP president Mahendra Bhatt said the party does not take Harish Rawat's statements seriously as they were more of an appeal to his own party leaders....
