Will be used against oppn leaders: SP MP
Agra, Aug. 24 -- The Samajwadi Party's national general secretary Ramjilal Suman has criticised the Constitution 130th Amendment Bill, 2025, which provides for the removal of any minister in the central or state government if they've been in jail for 30 days for a serious offence.
"This government in the Centre aims to use it as a tool against opposition leaders.
It will be misused to remove the democratically elected government of the opposition parties.
Although a provision has been made to remove the prime minister, it is merely a show off and practically not possible," the Rajya Sabha MP stated.
"Is it possible that a prime minister will advise his own removal from the seat. This bill, in fact, is an attack on the federal structure of the Indian democracy," he said while speaking to media persons at his residence here on Saturday.
"Ninety-five per cent of cases registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the CBI are against opposition leaders. In a reply filed to a written question, the government admitted that in the last one decade, 193 cases were registered against opposition leaders by the ED, but only two were proven guilty," added Suman.
"This means that the rate of conviction in cases of economic offences is only 1% and the Modi regime is misusing ED and CBI for its political benefit. There are various instances when opposition leaders were kept behind bars for no logical reason, and later closure reports were filed."
Suman called upon the masses to raise their voice against this "black" constitutional amendment bill....
