Wild animal attacks another villager in Bahraich
BAHRAICH, Oct. 8 -- A day after a four-year-old girl was injured in a wild animal attack in Badrauli village, a 40-year-old man was attacked by an unidentified wild animal in another village in Kaiserganj forest range of Bahraich on Tuesday afternoon, deepening fear among villagers and adding pressure on the forest department already struggling with frequent such attacks in the region.
The incident occurred when Milki Ram, a resident of Dayalpurwa village, was defecating in the fields. Hearing his cries, fellow villagers and his family members rushed to the spot with sticks and rods, managing to drive the animal away.
Confirming the incident, Bahraich divisional forest officer (DFO) Ram Singh Yadav said Milki Ram sustained over 20 scratches. "The injuries do not appear to have been caused by a wolf or a jackal," the DFO said.
Despite intensified patrolling, the forest department teams have failed to locate the animal suspected to have been involved in recurring attacks.
The DFO said for the past 3-4 days, no confirmed sightings of the predator have been reported even as search operations continue across Majhra Taukli and surrounding areas where several previous attacks occurred.
So far, six people, including four children, have been killed and around 20 others injured in a spate of wolf attacks in the region. Besides, six people have been injured in jackal attacks. Locals urged forest authorities to take stronger measures, saying that the mysterious animal continues to roam freely. HTC...
