MEERUT, Oct. 28 -- A woman accused of strangling her husband to death, allegedly after enduring years of domestic abuse, in Rampur Bilaspur Kotwali area was arrested on Sunday. Her daughters, who allegedly assisted in murder, are currently absconding, said police on Monday. The accused have been identified as Sarbati and her daughters Rajbala and Jaldhara. The victim, identified as Vijendra Singh Sagar, a labourer from Mundia Khurd village, was found dead in his home on the night of October 17. According to Kotwali in-charge Balwan Singh, Vijendra's body was found after he was strangled while he was asleep. Post-mortem confirmed that he died of suffocation. On October 25, the victim's brother, Joginder Singh, filed an FIR accusing Sarbati and her two daughters of murder. On Sunday afternoon police arrested Sarbati near Chakferi Mor when she was allegedly attempting to flee. During interrogation, she confessed to killing her husband with the help of her daughters. Police recovered cloth laces used in the crime, along with two mobile phones. Police said that Sarbati has been produced in court and sent to jail.
