Lucknow, Sept. 26 -- Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University vice chancellor Vikas Mishra has resigned weeks after the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh-backed student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) launched a major agitation against the university in Barabanki for enrolling students in LLB courses that they claimed was not approved by the Bar Council of India till early September. Chancellor of SRMU Pankaj Agarwal on Thursday confirmed that Mishra had resigned on Wednesday and was going back to his old institution. Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier said the police lathi-charge on ABVP workers on the Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University campus (on September 1) was unfortunate and uncalled for.
