Weeks after ABVP stir, SRMU vice-chancellor resigns
Lucknow, Sept. 26 -- Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University vice chancellor Vikas Mishra has resigned weeks after the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh-backed student organisation Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) launched a major agitation against the university in Barabanki for enrolling students in LLB courses that they claimed was not approved by the Bar Council of India till early September.
Chancellor of SRMU Pankaj Agarwal on Thursday confirmed that Mishra had resigned on Wednesday and was going back to his old institution.
Chief minister Yogi Adityanath had earlier said the police lathi-charge on ABVP workers on the Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University campus (on September 1) was unfortunate and uncalled for.
The higher education department formed a panel to investigate all the documents related to courses being run at private universities and whether they have the required approval from UGC, AICTE, NCTE, Bar Council of India and Medical Council of India. HTC...
