LUCKNOW, May 1 -- The Women and Child Safety Organisation (WCSO)-1090 has achieved a 62% disposal rate in cases listed under the Investigation Tracking System for sexual offences (ITSSO), marking an advancement in the handling of sexual offence investigations across Uttar Pradesh, according to a press release issued by the organisation on Wednesday. According to the statement, police zones including Varanasi, Meerut, and Gorakhpur demonstrated comparatively stronger performance in closing ITSSO cases. Conversely, zones such as Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Agra, Kanpur, and Bareilly reported a larger volume of pending cases, indicating areas where further improvements are necessary. The figures emerged from a two-day ITSSO review meeting held on Monday and Tuesday. Of the total 232 cases examined during this period, 144 were disposed of, further underlining the state's drive towards ensuring swift justice and maintaining control over offences against women and children.
