Meerut, June 21 -- The Special Task Force (STF) on Friday evening gunned down a notorious dacoit, Vinod Gaderiya, who was carrying a reward of Rs.1 lakh on his head. Gaderiya was wanted in connection with over half a dozen robberies committed in Muzaffarnagar during 2024. According to a statement issued by the Special Task Force, the encounter took place in the Jahangirabad police station area of Bulandshahr district. Acting on intelligence inputs, the Noida unit of the Special Task Force tracked Vinod Gaderiya's movement and attempted to apprehend him, the statement said. The Special Task Force team asked the criminal to surrender, but he opened fire on the officers. In retaliatory firing carried out in self-defence, Vinod Gaderiya was hit by bullets.
