Walkways, cafes, fitness zones planned in Saumitra forest, city parks
LUCKNOW, July 24 -- City parks including Saumitra Forest, Bhikhapur and Jhulelal Vatika will see new walkways, open gyms, play zones, cafes and plantation drives, as the divisional commissioner ordered swift execution of development works during a surprise inspection on Wednesday.
At Saumitra Forest, the planned upgrades include development of walking tracks, designated cafe space, fitness zones, and recreational areas for children. Instructions were given to fill uneven land with soil to create a level surface, along with landscaping and plantation to improve accessibility and visual appeal.
Divisional commissioner Roshan Jacob asked officials to install display boards to promote the forest area as a public green space and to explore revenue options through eco-tourism.
In Bhikhapur, Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) was asked to begin tree plantation and construct a walkway to allow residents to use the site as a leisure and walking zone.
At Jhulelal Vatika, officials were instructed to prepare an action plan including benches, lighting, ramps for accessibility, pathways and dense plantation. The aim is to ensure the space is functional for children, the elderly, and people with disabilities.
