Walkathon at SGPGI for healthy living
LUCKNOW, Nov. 10 -- Ahead of World Diabetes Day on November 14, the departments of endocrinology and paediatric endocrinology at Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) organised a walkathon to raise awareness about diabetes prevention and management.
The event, held under the theme "Small Steps, Big Impact: Live Healthy with Diabetes," focused on how simple lifestyle changes can help combat the rising diabetes burden.
The programme began early Sunday morning with a 2-km walk around the SGPGI campus. Nearly 250 participants, including faculty members, residents, students, nursing and technical staff, took part in the activity that aimed to encourage regular physical exercise and demonstrate how consistent efforts can improve long-term health outcomes.
Senior faculty members addressed the gathering, stressing the importance of early detection, lifestyle modification, and community participation in tackling diabetes. Speakers included acting director Dr Manoj Jain, Dr Preeti Dabadghao, Dr Subhash Yadav, Dr Aditya Kapoor, Dr Narayan Prasad, Dr SK Agarwal, Dr Naveen Garg, and Dr Manjusha Garg.
Dr Prashant, faculty member in the department of endocrinology, conducted a brief session on practical steps for diabetes prevention and control.
