Walkathon and awareness sessionsmark Haematocon
LUCKNOW, Nov. 9 -- More than 200 delegates, including members of the executive committee of the Indian Society of Haematology and Blood Transfusion (ISHBT), as well as patients with haemophilia and thalassaemia and their parents, participated in a walkathon in the vicinity of Smriti Upvan, Ashiana, as part of the 4-day 'Haematocon 2025', which will conclude on Sunday.
The walkathon aimed to raise awareness about haematological disorders such as anaemia, haemophilia, thalassaemia, and blood cancers, according to an official release.
A patient awareness programme was also held, and it was attended by around 200 patients of thalassaemia and haemophilia along with their parents. Expert haematologists from India and abroad interacted with them, addressing their queries.
In the ISHBT-EHA joint symposium, Dr Tuphan Kanti Dolai, honorary secretary, ISHBT, delivered a lecture on diagnostic modalities for thalassaemia.
Dr Miguel Abbourd from Beirut, Lebanon, discussed the treatment options, their limitations, and the practice in their setting of non-transfusion and transfusion-dependent anaemia.
Dr Erfan Noor from Amsterdam led a discussion on indications, procedure, and outcomes of allogeneic transplant with hemoglobinopathies.HTC...
