Varanasi, Dec. 28 -- The 72nd Senior National Volleyball Championship for men and women will be held at Dr Sampurnanand Sports Stadium, Sigra, from January 4 to 11. A total of 73 teams and over 1,000 players from across the country will take part. Mayor Ashok Tiwari said preparations for the Sports Mahakumbh are in the final stage. He, along with deputy chief minister and UP Volleyball Association president Brajesh Pathak, invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised the event and may inaugurate it on January 4.
