Vns urban team wins wheelchair cricket match
Varanasi, Nov. 11 -- The Varanasi Urban Divyang Cricket Team defeated the Varanasi Rural Divyang Cricket Team in a wheelchair cricket match held on Monday at Dr Sampurnanand Sports Complex, Sigra. The match was organised as part of the Kashi Sansad Divyang Sports Competition.
The event was organised in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh disabled cricket association, Sant Narayan Rehabilitation Institute, and Roti Bank, Varanasi. Mahesh Pratap, captain of the Urban team, won the toss and chose to bat first. The team scored 65 runs for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Pradeep Rajbhar played an impressive innings, scoring 40 runs with the help of seven fours. For the Rural team, Vikas took three wickets in four overs.
While chasing the target, the rural team managed to score only 58 runs for the loss of six wickets in 10 overs. Subodh Rai contributed 35 runs, including one six and four fours. Mahesh Pratap bowled effectively, taking three wickets for 22 runs in four overs. Pradeep Rajbhar was declared Man of the Match.
Dr Uttam Ojha, president of the Divyang Cricket Association, announced that a "Divya Mega Olympics" would soon be held in Varanasi, featuring 5,000 divyang athletes. He said the event would promote self-reliance among persons with disabilities.
Dr DB Mishra and Rakesh Pandey attended the match as chief guest and guest of honour respectively. The programme was conducted and concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr Uttam Ojha....
