Vns to get its first synthetic walking track by Dec 15
Varanasi, Nov. 2 -- A 660-metre-long, high-quality synthetic walking track is being constructed at Dr Sampurnanand Sports Stadium in Sigra, set to become Varanasi's first such facility.
The track is being built according to International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) standards and is expected to be completed by December 15. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs.1.05 crore.
Smart City chief general manager Amarendra Tiwari said the track will be about 660 metres in length and 3 metres in width, with a 15 mm-thick synthetic surface made up of 9 mm of Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and a 6 mm top layer of coloured Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) granules.
A stepped seating area is also being developed along the track for spectators....
