VNN gets Rs.4 crore for rainwater drainage plan
VARANASI, June 29 -- Varanasi Nagar Nigam (VNN) has received Rs.4 crore from the state government to prepare a master plan for the city's rainwater drainage system. The funds have been allocated under the urban flood, inundation control, and rainwater drainage scheme.
The nagar nigam had requested the government to release Rs.4 crore for preparing a comprehensive rainwater drainage plan covering the entire Varanasi Nagar Nigam area. This amount has now been sanctioned and received from the government, VNN public relations officer Sandip Srivastava.
The municipal corporation also invited tenders for preparing the master plan, receiving bids from two firms based in Hyderabad and Delhi. The proposals have been forwarded to C&DS headquarters in Lucknow for technical evaluation and assessment.
As part of this initiative by the municipal corporation, a detailed rainwater drainage plan for the city will be prepared by C&DS following technical evaluation. Once the plan receives approval, implementation work on the city's drainage system will commence....
