PRAYAGRAJ, June 3 -- With a growing number of bee attacks being reported across districts in Uttar Pradesh, concerns are growing over public safety in rural and semi-urban areas where beehives are commonly found near homes, trees, and public gathering spots. In a recent incident, several individuals were injured in a bee attack on Sunday evening in Musahar Basti, under the jurisdiction of Mauaima police station in Prayagraj. The villagers had gathered for 'tehraveen' (13th day death ritual) at a house in Musahar Basti, said police on Monday. As per reports, villagers, including children, women and the elderly, had assembled under a Peepal tree, outside Kallu Pal's house. Kallu Pal's father had passed away last month. According to reports, while food was being prepared and people had gathered, a bird likely pecked at a beehive hanging from a branch of the tree. The bee attack was reportedly so severe that many villagers sustained injuries while fleeing for cover. Among them, 70-year-old Jokhu Mushahra was critically injured, as he was unable to run and bore the brunt of the attack, they added. According to sub-inspector Girish Chandra Maurya of Mauaima police station, the critically injured was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Earlier, on Saturday in Varanasi, a group of 10 officials from the irrigation department were injured in a bee attack while inspecting the gates of the Rihand Dam in Sonbhadra....
