vigilance dept files 40,000-page charge sheet in majithia case
Chandigarh/ Mohali, Aug. 23 -- The Punjab Vigilance Bureau on Friday submitted a 40,000-page charge sheet in a Mohali court in the disproportionate assets (DA) case against former Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) minister Bikram Singh Majithia. The charge sheet was submitted in the court of additional sessions judge Hardeep Singh. The Punjab Vigilance Bureau had arrested Majithia on June 25 in the DA case allegedly involving laundering of Rs 540 crore of "drug money". On August 18, the Mohali court had dismissed Majithia's bail plea and he is currently lodged in the New Nabha jail in Patiala. The charge sheet was brought in four sealed trunks to the court. Public prosecutor Ferry Sofat said the charge sheet has been filed in the court. Officials said the voluminous charge sheet contains details of movable and immovable properties worth Rs.700 cr allegedly linked to Majithia....
