Vice-Chief of Army Staff visits IIT-K, discusses army's modernisation
LUCKNOW, Feb. 11 -- Vice-Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS) Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh on Tuesday took part in discussions emphasising a strong need for joint engagement of the Indian Army with IIT Kanpur for the former's modernisation through technology-infusion, as per an official note.
Lt Gen Singh visit to IIT Kanpur came days after the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi, visited IIT Kanpur on February 3 to engage with the institute's thriving ecosystem of deep-tech innovation, research, and defence-related technology development.
Lt. Gen. Singh visited the Helicopter and VTOL lab led by Prof Abhishek and the UAV Lab led by Prof Subrahmanyam Saderla from the department of aerospace engineering where he was presented with the advancements made in drone technology by IIT Kanpur.
He also visited the C3iHub where he was accompanied by Dr. Ras Dwivedi, chief technology officer, and Dr. Anand Handa, chief strategy officer, C3iHub, IIT Kanpur.
Prof Manindra Agrawal, director, IIT-K, praised the synergy and noted that emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence, autonomous systems, and electronic warfare were reshaping military operations, thereby necessitating the modernization of defence technologies....
