Verification drive continues, police check IDs in Lko slums
LUCKNOW, Dec. 4 -- Continuing its crackdown, Lucknow Police on Wednesday expanded the ongoing verification drive to the central zone of the city, conducting checks in slum clusters around Ballu Adda in Dalibagh and the adjoining pockets under the Hazratganj police station limits.
Officials said teams from the police and the municipal corporation moved through densely populated makeshift settlements, verifying identity documents of residents, including Aadhaar cards, voter IDs and other government-issued papers.
"Teams have been deployed across central Lucknow to identify residents who may be living without valid documents. Verification at Ballu Adda and nearby slum areas was carried out as part of this ongoing exercise," Hazratganj station house officer Vikram Singh said.
The drive is part of a wider operation initiated after the state government's directive to intensify action against illegal immigrants and unverified migrant clusters across Uttar Pradesh. Police said individuals who were unable to produce documents during the on-ground checks were instructed to furnish them at the local police station.
