LUCKNOW, Nov. 29 -- Even though Team India's T20 specialist batter Rinku Singh failed with willow for the second consecutive time this season, opener Aryan Juyal, young all-rounders Prashant Veer and Vipraj Nigam helped former champions Uttar Pradesh continue their winning streak in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy on Friday, scripting a facile 109-run win against J&K. Keeper-opener Juyal struck his second consecutive half-century as Uttar Pradesh posted a challenging 193/6 after being sent to bat first in their Elite Group B encounter, at the Jadavpur University Ground in Kolkata. In reply, J&K batters found UP bowlers too tough to handle before being bundled out for 84 in 15.3 overs. Ex-Team India pacer Bhuvaneshwar Kumar shattered the off stump of opener Vivrant Sharma (0) in his very first over and opened the floodgate, and thereafter J&K lost wickets like nine pins. Fellow opener Qamran Iqbal (20) finished as the top-scorer for the losers. Other pacer Sunil Kumar too took 2/11, but the real problems for J&K batters were the two spinners Veer and Nigam. Whereas left-arm orthodox bowler Veer took 3/20, leg spinner Nigam bagged 3/25. Earlier, Juyal and Delhi-boy Karan Sharma stitched together 73 runs for the first wicket and set the tone for a big total. Juyal went on scoring his fifth T20 half-century in his 22nd match, scoring 40-ball 51 laced with four boundaries and three sixes, and skipper Sharma made 24-ball 32 with the help of four hits to the fence and one over it. Rinku Singh, who could score just four in the season opener against Goa, got out for just one after being caught by keeper K Wadhawan off Umran Malik. Sameer Rizvi, who will be rushing back to lead UP's team in the semi-final of the Men's State A U23 T20 Trophy at Mumbai on Saturday, smacked 14-ball 30 with two fours and equal number of sixes. Young Siddarth Yadav (24, 18b, 2x4, 1x6) and Prashant veer (37, 10b, 3x4, 4x6) played cameos in the last few overs to add 52 runs for the fifth wicket. UP next play against Madhya Pradesh on Sunday....
