VARANASI, Sept. 30 -- A puja pandal in the temple town is attracting devotees with its theme of 'Operation Sindoor'. This pandal in Orderly Bazar has an idol of Goddess Kali armed with weapons and slaying two masked terrorists. The pandal is a replica of a base camp with army jawans guarding it. This grand Durga Pooja Pandal has been created by Jai Mata Di Sporting Club (JMDSC) known for making theme- based pandals giving social messages. Mihir Bhalla of JMDSC said, "Our pandal is specially designed to reflect the valour and patriotism of the Indian Army. Two 15-feet-high platforms have been constructed on either side of the pandal. Statues of soldiers have been deployed at the base camp in the pandal." There is also a scene in which a helicopter has been installed 30 feet above the pandal, from which soldiers are getting off, using ropes. With deployment of soldiers at the entrance and exit gates, the entire pandal gives a border-like feel, says Bhalla. The entire pandal has been created using cotton sacks and nylon mesh, an example of environmental-friendly and traditional craftsmanship. Each year, the club develops theme-centric pandals on social or national issues. Previously, pandals were decorated on topics such as "Save the Environment," "Plastic-Free India," "COVID-19," "Chandrayaan," "Suryayan," and "Supreme Court." There is also an impressive 5-minute electronic show for visitors....
