Varanasi gears up for Kashi Tamil Sangamam 4.0
VARANASI, Nov. 30 -- Banaras Hindu University (BHU) and IIT-BHU will jointly organise a series of academic sessions from December 2 to 15 on diverse themes as part of the fourth edition of the Kashi Tamil Sangamam (KTS 4.0).
Addressing a press conference on Saturday, BHU vice-chancellor Prof Ajit Kumar Chaturvedi said, "We at Banaras Hindu University are excited to be a key stakeholder in KTS. We, along with IIT-BHU, have made elaborate preparations to offer a memorable experience to our guests."
Prof Chaturvedi added that Kashi has long been a global center of intellect and knowledge, attracting seekers from around the world. KTS 4.0, he said, offers yet another opportunity for knowledge exchange.
The theme for this year's edition, "Let Us Learn Tamil," emphasises linguistic harmony and cultural unity.
IIT-BHU director Prof Amit Patra highlighted that the theme "Karpom Tamil" encourages learning Tamil as a pathway to deeper cultural and intellectual engagement.
As part of the programme, seven groups will visit BHU and IIT-BHU for academic sessions. The first group of students will arrive on December 3, focusing on "Kashi in Tamil Imagination: Mahakavi Subramania Bharati and His Legacy."
Teachers will participate on December 5, followed by writers and media professionals on December 7, agriculture and allied sector groups on December 9, professionals and artisans on December 11, women participants on December 13, and spiritual delegates, including classical singers and spiritual text teachers, on December 15.
Another highlight is the visit of 300 Varanasi students to Tamil Nadu. The selected students will learn Tamil and visit culturally and historically significant sites in Tamil Nadu.
The first batch of KTS 4.0 students left Kanyakumari for Varanasi at 11:45 am on train number 06001. Forty-three students boarded at Kanyakumari, with 86 joining at Tiruchirappalli and 87 at Chennai Egmore....
