Uttarakhand: Over 10K Char Dham pilgrims register offline
Haridwar, April 29 -- A total of 10,440 devotees registered at the Haridwar and Rishikesh Char Dham registration centres by 7 pm on Monday, the first day of offline registration, the district administration officials said.
"To ensure convenient and maximum registration of pilgrims opting for offline self-registration, 20 counters have been set up at Rishikul. Separate counters have been arranged for divyang (physically challenged) pilgrims, women, and foreign tourists. Additionally, four help desks, potable water facilities, 60 temporary toilets, and a rest area have been provided at the registration centre," DM Kamendra Singh said.
He further said that 3,940 devotees registered Haridwar registration by 6pm. Those registered on Monday were from various states, including Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and even from Nepal. According to officials at the registration centre, by evening, 45 pilgrims from Nepal had registered for the yatra.
Singh added that two mobile teams have been deployed to register pilgrims staying in large groups at dharamshalas, lodges, or ashrams, to ensure greater convenience and faster registration.
According to the tourism department officials, for this year's Char Dham pilgrimage, 20 registration centres have been set up in Haridwar, 30 in Rishikesh (24 at transit centres and six at ISBT), and 15 each in Herbertpur and Vikasnagar, in Dehradun.
According to Dehradun district administration officials, a total of 10,440 devotees registered at the Haridwar and Rishikesh Char Dham registration centres by 7 pm on Monday.
Till Monday, nearly two million pilgrims have registered online for the Char Dham shrines - Gangotri, Yamunotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath - along with Hemkund Sahib, according to an official data....
