Uttarakhand: Madrasa verification drive ordered after viral clip
Dehradun, April 18 -- Uttarakhand government has ordered an inquiry into a video circulating on social media which purportedly shows children from outside the state being brought to madrasas in the state, officials said
Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said the state government has taken "serious cognisance of the matter". He added that "strict action will be taken if any irregularities are found during the inquiry".
Minority welfare department, special secretary, Parag Madhukar Dhakate directed the district administrations on Thursday evening to conduct verification drives in madrasas.
Instructions have been issued to district magistrates of Dehradun, Haridwar, Udham Singh Nagar and Nainital to carry out inspections in their respective districts and submit reports to the state administration.
According to officials, the drive will examine source of the children's arrival, whether their guardians had consented and role of individuals responsible for bringing them into state. htc...
