Rudrapur, Dec. 10 -- A 42-year-old man was killed in a leopard attack in a village in Champawat district on Tuesday morning, while a 48-year-old woman was injured in a separate leopard attack in Pithoragarh, officials said. In the first incident, forest and revenue officials rushed to the spot and took the body of the victim, identified as Dev Singh Adhikari, a resident of Dhargara hamlet in Churani village, into custody. Adhikari worked as a daily wager in a government department. Sunil Kumar, sub-divisional forest officer (SDO), Champawat, said, "We reached the spot immediately and took the body into possession. After the postmortem, the body was handed over to the family. An ex-gratia of Rs.6 lakh has been provided as per government norms." In the second case, a 48-year-old woman, Janki Devi, a resident of Gurna village near Pithoragarh town, was admitted to the district hospital after being injured in a leopard attack on Tuesday, forest department officials said. She was attacked in a nearby forest where she had gone to collect fodder for her cattle. "The woman is out of danger. She has sustained serious injuries but is stable," said Dr Mukesh Kutiyal, surgeon at the district hospital in Pithoragarh....
