UPSSEC new building to be constructed in Nagara style
LUCKNOW, May 2 -- The new building of Uttar Pradesh Secondary Sanskrit Education Council (UPSSEC) in the city will be constructed in Nagara style of architecture, which is used in north-Indian temples and has a spire-like top.
A proposal of Rs 46 crore was made for the construction of the new building, and a sum of Rs 36 crore has been sanctioned to UPSSEC. The work will be undertaken by Uttar Pradesh Projects Corporation Limited, and it will have figures and messages in Sanskrit inscribed on the walls, according to UPSSEC secretary Shiv Lal.
"As the building will work towards promotion of Sanskrit, it is being constructed in a traditional style. Sanskrit is an ancient language, and we had several meetings to select a traditional design for the structure which could go with the language's historical importance.
"It will house three floors and a ground floor, and we have received the required permission. It will also house an open amphitheatre and multipurpose hall with a capacity of 250 people. There will also be a language lab and library to promote different languages apart from Sanskrit," Shiv Lal explained....
