PRAYAGRAJ, May 12 -- To address a continuing shortage of contractual drivers, the Prayag depot of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will hold its third employment fair, with applications open until May 15, 2025. Despite organising two employment fairs earlier, the depot has not been able to recruit the required number of drivers. According to Prashant Dixit, assistant regional manager, Prayagraj region, the minimum educational qualification for the post is Class 8 pass. Applicants must also possess a valid heavy vehicle driving licence with at least two years of experience. Sabha Singh, workshop assistant, UPSRTC Prayagraj depot, who is overseeing the recruitment, said that nearly 100 driver posts are currently vacant, affecting the movement of buses in the region. The minimum age limit is 23 years and six months, while the maximum working age is capped at 58 years. Drivers will be paid at the rate of Rs 2.06 per kilometre. Additionally, drivers who cover 5,000 km in 22 days will receive an incentive of Rs 3,000. If they are present for more than 22 days, an additional Rs 4,500 incentive will be paid....
