UPSNA awards: Nomination process opens, names invited for last few yrs
Lucknow, May 6 -- The forms for the much awaited-UP Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards, BM Shah Award and Safdar Hashmi Award are being circulated by the Akademi. The recommendation of artistes can be submitted for the years 2022, 2023 and 2024 for UPSNA Awards.
This recommendation can be made by those who have previously been recipients of the award, said president UPSNA, Prof Jayant Khot. "The executive council of the Akademi has received the names for 2021 and will discuss them. These awards have been delayed due to vacant positions of the top brass at the Akademi," said Khot.
He also ensured that the Akademi has proposed to increase the honorarium for UPSNA Awards.
"It has been several years since the remuneration awarded to artistes was increased. We have proposed to the department to increase it," Khot added.
Vice President, UPSNA, Vibha Singh said that the Akademi is also working to revive the endangered and extinct gharanas. "UP has been the hub of various gharanas but it is sad that several Gharanas are left with only one or two artistes. UPSNA is planning to revive them by providing training to people under the maestros," said Singh.
Director, UPSNA, Shobhit Kumar Nahar, said that the workshop is being organised by the Akademi in 75 districts of the state.
"We are organising various workshops including - vocal, instrumental, dance, puppetry and theatre for people across the state. For the first time, residents of shelter homes, shelter homes for girls and child-reform homes can help them learn and polish new skills," said Nahar.
He also said that for the first time, the Akademi is planning to organise Pradeshik Natya Samaroh and Rajya Natya Samaroh.
"The winner of Pradeshik Natya Samaroh will stage a play with teams from other states in Rajya Natya Samaroh," said Nahar....
