LUCKNOW, May 5 -- The day two delivered drama in the boys men draw round one in the ITF Junior J30 Lucknow 2026 Tournament, at the Vijayant Khand Stadium here on Monday with eight thrilling matches showcasing grit, comebacks, and shocking upsets. All-Indian clashes dominated, underlining the depth of domestic junior tennis.
Varad Undre kicked off proceedings with a solid 6-4, 7-5 win over Ayan Shetty, displaying steady baseline play to edge a tight contest. Advit Tiwari followed suit, overpowering Abhivadya Misra 7-5, 6-1 in a one-sided affair after a competitive opener.
The real fireworks came with upsets that rocked the seeded bracket. Third seed Mahijeet Pradhan tumbled 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 to qualifier Sharan Somasi, who clawed back from a set deficit with ferocious resilience.
Sixth seed Aarav Dhekial fared worse, leading qualifier Aarav Chawla 3-6, 7-6(5), 5-4 before Chawla retired injured-handing Dhekial an unexpected exit and boosting underdogs' morale.
Eighth seed Pradnyesh Shelke steadied the top ranks, crushing Manan Rai 7-5, 6-0 with ruthless serving. Fourth seed Tejas Ravi survived a marathon against Paranjay Siwach, prevailing 7-6(8), 6-7(1), 7-5 in a three-hour epic marked by tiebreak heroics.
Lethaeesh S Kombile outlasted Gowtham Shanmugasundaram 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 in another three-setter, while Om Patel rallied past Sarthak Ashok Gaikwad 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Vivaan Bidasaria rounded out the day, dismissing Evan Saha 6-4, 6-2 with clinical precision.
Young Amaira Singh defeated Aradhya Verma 8-11, 11-4, 11-0 to win the under-11 girls title at the District Table Tennis Tournament, at the SNI Table Tennis Academy here. Winners in other categories included Anav Jasra, Amar Mani Shukla, Gauri Shukla, Akash Dewedi and Gauri Shukla....
