Lucknow, Jan. 6 -- Uttar Pradesh relief commissioner Hrishikesh Bhaskar Yashod on Monday said the emergency centre to be established at the UP State Disaster Management Authority (UPSDMA) will be fully equipped with advanced facilities to strengthen disaster management in the state. Yashod held a meeting through video conferencing with senior officers of the relief department of Odisha. The functioning, structure, and best practices of the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) operational in Odisha were discussed in detail during the meeting. Deliberations were also held on formulating concrete strategies to make SEOC effective, capable, and modern. An extensive discussion was held on various aspects related to management of natural and man-made disasters, Yashod said in a press statement. Officers of the Odisha relief department shared details of the structure of their SEOC, its 24x7 operational system, IT-enabled decision support systems, real-time data analysis, alert and warning mechanisms, and successful models of field-level coordination. It was decided to implement the Odisha experience in the establishment and operation of the SEOC in Uttar Pradesh. The relief commissioner stressed on technical, managerial and capacity-building aspects. Practical recommendations were made regarding design, standardisation of procedures (SOPs), training, mock drills, and integration of digital platforms.
